Sweep!

The Astros swept the Cubbies today. The best part of the whole game was the shit-eating grin on Roy Oswalt's face as he struck out Zambrano for the 3rd time. The dude doesn't show any emotion most of the time (except extreme intensity, of course) and he busted out with this grin that could not be stopped.

So cute.

Anyway, I've been neglecting the blog. Bad me. No excuses - I just let the thing slide. I've had plenty of ideas to write about, and maybe that was the problem. Too many ideas. Back in June I was gonna post pics of the baseball trip. Then in July I was gonna write about the beach house. Then later in July I was gonna write about my research, and then earlier this month I was gonna write about how crazy it is to look forward to visiting my in-laws but dread visiting my mother.

And so on.

It wasn't just my blog that I was ignoring, either. I wasn't reading other blogs. Not my invite-only blogs, not the lesser-known public blogs, and not the hugely popular famous blogosphere types.

You could say I dropped out. Now I've re-enrolled. I guess. Check back next week and see if I actually meant what I'm saying now... heh.

Way back in May

I made the year mark. I missed my blogoversery by nearly six months. Damn, I'm forgetful!

That's right, one plus year of blogging. I really didn't think I'd make it this far. I've tried journaling in the past and never wrote beyond the three week mark. So one year (and more!) is kinda big for me.

And, well, it'd be bigger if I was a more regular poster.

Eh, oh well. At least I post. And on a good day, two people actually read this shit!

Cool!

Okay, Karlababble's commenters rock!

And yes, I'm aware that my posts are using too many exclamation points recently. Sorry! (heh.)

But you must go to Karlababble, and you must read the comments. You must do this NOW or I will fry your brain with evil pediatric mind-rays! Mind-rays, I tell you!

Post 100! How about that?

Wow. I started this thing nearly a year ago, and I'm somewhat amazed that I'm still going strong. I like my blog, I like writing and I want to keep on going.

Cool.

So - without much futher ado - more Guatemala!

Welcome to Livingston! I've posted about this before, but now I have pictures. Nifty. The kiddo in front is a little Garifuna boy paddling in the water, blowing bubbles, and taunting his friends in his native dialect. Some things are universal.

There wasn't much interesting in Livingston to photograph, although I tried. The best I could come up with is a picture of what I think are drying racks between two waterfront houses. I didn't catch the chickens in this shot, but trust me, they were there!

Some of the more interesting stuff was on the boatride between Rio Dulce and Livingston. The canyon of graffiti was one such site. I managed to snag a picture of the oldest graffiti on the wall. Go me!

And finally, Rio Dulce itself. A squat, run down and typically Guatemalan port of call popular with the yatching set. I don't think that these were the multimillionaire yatchers... I don't think those guys every leave the 'proper' part of the Carribean, or perhaps the Med. These guys were the college drop-out, I-started-my-own-business-and-got-lucky kinda guys. But nice nonetheless.

I wish I was funny... or at least popular

Okay, my life is good. I don't really have any reason to complain... but I'm going to anyway.

I wish I had one of thos blogs that folks actually read. I wish I was funny.

'Cause I'm not - I'm clever, and sometimes whiney (is that spelled with or without the e? I don't know!), but not funny. It doesn't help that I think my life is boring, and I frequently have no clue what to write.

I think this blog might do better if I wrote longer posts... but my ADD won't really let me. I just can't concentrate long enough to create posts longer than about a screen. I know, I know, I don't fit the full DSM-IV criteria for adult ADD, but still.

Really, I have no reason to complain. I started this blog so that I would write - a pastime my profession doesn't encourage. Writing is for wussies - real doctors use abbreviations, super-microsized handwriting and sentences without conjunctions. I once swore I would never write like that... but I do. Routinely. Just for poops and giggles, I'm going to make up a fake history and physical below in docta-speak... so ya'll know how horrible doctor writing acutally is.

Yeah - so writing isn't my forte anymore. But damn it, with this blog I will become eloquent once again.

If it kills me!

The joy of being almost 30

Now, most of my friends are older than I am, so I don't expect much in the way of sympathy.

But come on, turning 29 is fairly traumatic. I'm now only one year away from being 30! Ack! Presumably, actually turning 30 would be easier - 'cause at least then it would be over. I think that it is the anticipation of officially leaving my 20's that is getting to me. When I leave my 20's, that means I'm supposed to have things figured out and have a plan.

Yikes!

In other news, Dave over at blogography has finally lost his ever-loving mind. I expect he'll recover, but only after inventing a Mega-Super-Death-Ray and firing it at all McDonald's employees.

I don't ever want to be the subject of that man's ire. He's vicious... but in a good way.

(We love you Dave!)
